Many things can happen in the encounter-clash between man and machine. One of the most amazing opportunities is that we can take the occasion to rethink our way of thinking, speaking, and existing in our time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea proposed in this article is that Artificial Intelligence can represent a testing ground for foundations’ ability to welcome, understand, and govern complexity, taking on the more demanding, profound, and revolutionary task of guiding change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trust, hope, and systems thinking: these are not just values, but transformative skills. And as such, philanthropy can strengthen them. Can reflection on artificial intelligence become a lever?<\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The third sector has long been operating in an increasingly complex context of thought and practice. Needs are exploding, apocalyptic and overbearing narratives arrive from overseas, war clouds are slowly gathering over Europe, public institution support is wavering (when not drastically reduced), and the constructive areas where solidarity and quiet dominate seem increasingly diminished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philanthropy has also long been encouraged to think about a different kind of support for the third sector, the beating heart of its mandate. On these pages and at major dedicated events, there is frequent talk of systemic change, trust, sustainability, and, lately, even hope: fundamental ingredients for a change in the approach to relationships that is, first and foremost, a change in thought<\/em>. Yet, philanthropy continues to move within established frameworks that make it difficult to translate these orientations into concrete changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what is to be done?<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The central point lies in recognizing that hope, trust, systems thinking, conscious use of resources, and long-term orientation do not belong to the realm of values, but to that of skills. In line with the model of transformative skills for sustainable development (Inner Development Goals (IDGs)<\/a>), it does not help us to position them in the field of values or treat them as common sense<\/em>. They are skills<\/em>, and this changes everything: because they can be trained, cultivated, and even measured, and favorable and fruitful organizational cultures can be built around them. It is a matter of choice and collective responsibility to choose to strengthen them, which in turn is a recognition that human beings live and thrive on continuous learning and assign value to knowledge throughout their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, where to start?<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The progressive introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) into the processes of the third sector and philanthropy can represent a decisive opportunity to rethink the value of knowledge\u2014no longer simply as a static asset or a repertoire to be updated, but as a dynamic and shared practice capable of truly putting human intentionality back at the center. If conceived as a formative lever rather than a mere operational shortcut, AI can make it clear that knowledge is never solely individual, but must be born in spaces of relationship and in the richness of dialectical tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, AI opens up the possibility of a more pervasive and profound collective agency<\/em>, capable of amplifying\u2014rather than replacing\u2014human judgment. Collaboration with AI requires a way of thinking that is necessarily more dialogic, systemic, and aware of interdependencies. It is precisely on this threshold of transformation that trust, hope, and long-term vision must be conceived as skills, leading people to think together, build shared scenarios, and support each other through volatile conditions, recognizing that complexity requires substantial collaboration between a plurality of minds, sensibilities, and imaginations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
